Scone is the horse capital of Australia and one of the most visually attractive areas in NSW.
Scone Horse Festival is held in May each year. Feature events include Scone Horse Festival Parade and Rodeo and Scone Cup Race Day.
Scone Race Club is Australia's premier country race track with 13 meets per year.

Barrington Tops
The Renowned Barrington tops world heritage area & National park is only 60 minutes drive from Scone. There are a number of picturesque picnic areas, camping grounds and walking trails. www.environment.nsw.gov.au
Lake Glenbawn
The Dam is used by many for fishing and water sports. There are picnic areas for day trips which have free electric BBQ's. Apart form a large variety of trees and plants you may come across kangaroos and wallabies.
Burning Mountain
Located 20kms north of Scone along the New England Highway. At the top is the open burning coal seam. Along the way you will come across many native eucalypts, stringy barks, grey gums and some ironbarks. You may come across some of the fauna such as kangaroos, possums, goannas, wallaroos and echidnas.
Hunter Wine Country
Hunter Wine Country & Hunter Valley Gardens 1 hour and 30 minutes drive.
Festivals and Events
Major events in the Upper Hunter include the Horse Festival and King of the Ranges every May, Festival of the Fleeces every June long weekend and Highland Games every July.
